Lumia Care, backed by Pemba, continues to scale by partnering with I-Nurse, PRN Healthcare, Healthcare HQ, and JB Care, bolstering the presence along the Eastern Seaboard and marking a new milestone on Lumia Care’s exciting growth journey.
The Partnership
Pemba supported the partnership of high-grade healthcare businesses across the nursing, home care, and disability services sectors, creating Lumia Care, a leading national healthcare staffing and services group in April of 2022. Lumia Care was seeking to further expand their market-leading nursing and NDIS service offerings. Leveraging Pemba’s proprietary origination function and deep domain expertise, four high-quality and strategically aligned businesses were identified each providing exceptional service to their respective catchments.

Background To Pemba’s Investment
Pemba identified a high degree of fragmentation in the healthcare sector, capitalising on the opportunity to aggregate leading healthcare staffing and services businesses to form Lumia Care. By combining these nationwide businesses across nursing, home care, and disability services, Lumia Care aims to provide a unique and differentiated offering for patients across all care settings. The Pemba team worked closely with Lumia Care’s management team to identify key criteria for potential acquisitions, including operational and cultural alignment and strategic diversification.
The Vendor’s Perspective
With the “platformation” of Lumia Care setting the foundations within the first 12 months, we then set about building the company’s next phase of growth focusing on national expansion. Pemba’s deep network and market-leading origination model unlocked enormous buy & build opportunities that fast-tracked business growth.Jason Cartwright, Lumia Care CEO
The Future
Pemba will continue to support Lumia Care in driving organic growth initiatives and through identifying and supporting additional acquisition opportunities, consolidating their position as a leading Australian Healthcare service provider.
